On Sunday the 14th of January 2024, HM Queen Margrethe stepped down as Queen of Denmark, after 52 years, and handed over the throne to HRH Crown Prince Frederik.

At RHANDERS we are honoured and thankful for having served the Queen and her Royal Household. She has ignited our everlasting quest for conquering the highest levels of art and craftsmanship, rooted in cultural meaning and responsibility. We are forever grateful to the Queen for being a guiding star and inspiration to us - and look forward to continuing the purposeful collaboration.

At the same time, we congratulate the new King Frederik the 10th and HM Queen Mary on assuming the Danish Throne. We are excited to continue centuries’ tradition of gloving the Throne. We will do our uttermost in serving and holding the hands of the new generation.

PURVEYOR TO THE ROYAL DANISH COURT

While Randers Handskefabrik has been providing gloves and leather goods to the Royal Household for centuries, the company was given the official title 'Purveyor to the Royal Danish Court' in year 2000 on the day of the HM The Queen's 60th birthday. The title was given in the category 'Leather goods / Accessories' and beautifully signified and marked a centuries-long relationship with the Royal House.

The appointment as a "Purveyor to Her Majesty" - known as the Royal Warrant - gives the holder permission to use the designation and an image of the crown along with the company’s name on signs, letterhead, packaging and labels. The designation is conferred by HM The Queen, and there are 102 holders of the Royal Warrant.

We also mark the anniversary with a grateful reflection of our valued collaboration throughout the years.

We do not know the exact date of the first Royal encounter, but we know that the French Queen Marie Antoinette (1755- 1793) requested the Danish Royal Court to have shipped gloves from Randers. Allegedly because of the way they made her hands feel soft and smooth, but also because of the recognisable aroma from the Kalmus flower.

The Danish Princess Dagmar (1847 - 1928) loved gloves from Randers too, and even continued purchasing the gloves after she became Zarina of Russia.

Today, we glove the hands of the entire Danish Royal Family, including the new generation.

Additionally, we provide the gloves for the Royal Lifeguard, the Queens Officers, Chauffeurs and the Royal Stables.

Today, we glove the hands of the entire Danish Royal Family, including the new generation; HRH The Crown Prince and HRH The Crown Princess.
