WELCOMING THE QUEEN
H.M. The Queen's summer cruise goes to the city of Randers on August 31st 2023. Here she arrives by the Royal Yacht Dannebrog and will grace Rhanders with an official visit in the historical boutique on Torvegade 12 in the middle of the day.
RECOMMENDATION FROM THE MAYOR'S OFFICE
The Mayor's Office writes, "Randers Town Centre is filled with beautiful old medieval buildings, and if you knock on one of the doors or step behind one of the enchanting facades, you'll find the most impressive stories. One of those stories is Randers Handsker, which, as one of the world's oldest glove factories, has been headquartered in Randers since 1811. In fact, the glove factory can be traced all the way back to the 1200s, thus having a rich and unique Danish history.
In 2019, the company was taken over by Rina Hansen, who, with deep respect for craftsmanship and her Ph.D. in omnichannel transformation, revived Randers Handskefabrik under the updated name RHANDERS, with a focus on preserving Danish craftsmanship of the finest kind. Collaborating with customers in ongoing product development, Rhanders has created modern and unique leather goods of the highest quality. Some of the company's bestsellers have been part of the collection for more than 80 years. Rhanders continues its mission by nurturing exquisite quality products in sustainable designs. This is done while insisting on preserving Danish cultural heritage through sustainable design, glove making, and craftsmanship traditions. In this lies a special task: to pass on the traditions to a new generation."
DIRECTOR AND OWNER RINA HANSEN WELCOMES THE QUEEN
Rina Hansen eagerly anticipates the visit, stating, "Since its founding, Rhanders has supplied gloves and fine leather goods to the nobility and the royal family, so we have a close connection to the Royal Household. But it's quite special that the Queen is coming to Randers to visit us.
I am very much looking forward to showing the Queen around and telling Her Majesty about our mission to uphold the honorable craftsmanship and design. I will also share how we cultivate new products through a synergy of traditional principles and innovation, as well as how we train a new generation of young craftsmen at the Glove Factory through the older generation's mentoring.
There will also be a focus on the significance of the Kalmus flower for the company's 800-year history. The company's former owner, Arne Vejrum, will join us to enrich the narrative with the historical perspective in the store's museum."
THE QUEEN'S FLOWER BOUQUET
The Queen's floral ensemble was, of course, crafted from Rhanders' emblematic bloom, the Kalmus plant, which serendipitously blossomed right now. The bouquet was entwined with the Grand Kalmus silk scarf and adorned with gold Kalmus jewelry.
A ROYAL GIFT
An extraordinary gift was presented to Her Majesty — an exclusive Swan bag accompanied by matching gloves from the 'Royal Deer’ collection hailing from the era of King Christian X.
