RHANDERS HERITAGE ROOM: 800 YEARS OF GLOVING HISTORY
The history of glove-making in Randers began in the 13th century. It is an exhilarating tale of kings, queens and Catholic monks that in one of history’s intricate twists unsuspectingly played an essential role in making Randers the most important glove city in Europe.
Visitors can experience why Marie-Antoinette would only sleep in gloves from Randers. Explore the gloves worn during the World Wars and the Spanish flu. See the stores in London, New York and Copenhagen. Uncover the gloves we created for the police force and FBI. And, see the bestselling hotpants from the 1960s and much much more.
All stories are unveiled along the dark teal walls, behind the lustrous velvet curtains, in our Heritage Room on a timeline dated from the year 1200 to 2020. Neat rows of frames support the timeline, filled with historic people, products and places intertwined in exciting tales. Carefully placed in the room are also to be found 200-year-old tools, artefacts and even a functioning measuring machine and computer from 1826.
And.. as an extra surprise, you can experience, through touch and smell, the 800-year-old secret to RHANDERS's stardom...
