NOBLE CAPESKIN: A LIFESTORY

The Noble Capeskin is a superior glove-leather preserved in our atelier for 80 years - since the beginning of the 1940’s. It is the finest, and most exquisitely soft aniline leather with a unique capability for developing a beautiful patina.

The precious glove-leather, was originally tanned by the famous English Pittards tannery, established in 1826. This very leather might be the reason why our 4th family owner, Arne Vejrum as a teenager was sent to Pittards in England for two years to be educated as a tanner – as his father reconned this was the world’s best leather, and they had to bring these worldclass skills to RHANDERS.

Because of this family history, they kept the storied leather untouched in the RHANDERS atelier for years, without finding a special use for it that could match its life-history and the emotions attached.

But now, 80 years after the leather was delivered to Rhanders from Pittards, and 60 years after Arne was educated at Pittards, the grand master approved taking the beloved leather off the shelves and crafting it into styles for today.

We have selected some exclusive iconic styles to be expertly crafted at our atelier in Denmark from Capeskin lamb leather.
Because of the rare leather, impossible to source today, each exclusive style is made in a limited edition of only very few pieces.
