GLOVES

How do I find my glove size?

You will find your glove size by measuring the circumference of your preferred hand at the widest point (without your thumb) using a measuring tape. The measurement must be in centimetres.

Divide your measurement by 2.7 to get your exact glove size in French inches.

If your calculated size is e.g. 7.15’’ you round off the number to the nearest size, as your gloves should rather be a bit too tight at first, as it adjusts to your hand when in use.

Read all about how to find your glove size here.

How should a glove fit?

The joy of the perfect fit is essential. Your gloves should feel a bit tight the first time you wear them. Gloves are like a good pair of jeans: They will adjust to your exact shape as you wear them.

Read all about glove fitting here.

Should I always choose the same glove size?

No, you should not necessarily choose the same glove size.

Each and every RHANDERS glove is uniquely made by hand according to classic craftsmanship traditions, therefore in a few cases, there may be variations in the sizes.

For example, if you choose a mitten such as Helena, Helena Heart or Hector Heart, we recommend choosing your mittens in a size larger than your preferred glove size for maximum comfort and warmth.

What does OS mean?

OS = One-size

Several of our popular RHANDERS gloves are available in a one-size version. This design allows the glove to fit different hand sizes.

See each product for specific information.

What type of leather are RHANDERS gloves made from?

At RHANDERS, our gloves are created by using natural materials only. Leather is not artificially produced, rather a byproduct made by nature and tied to the cycle of life. We work with materials, including:

  • Lamb leather
  • Goat leather
  • Peccary leather
  • Icelandic shearling

We select our leather with great care, following raw materials and production throughout the entire process. Every pair of gloves has soul and purpose and leather is chosen accordingly. Our collection spans from long evening gloves made from ultra-thin lamb leather, to heavy duty combat gloves.

Lamb leather
Lamb is used for a wide range of gloves and can be found in two variants: Pure Aniline and Semi Aniline. The gloves created with lamb leather are butter-soft, yet strong, and can be brought to life in many, many shades.

Goat leather
Goat leather is perfect for gloves that require good wear resistance. This type of leather makes them robust, to the point that they are considered almost indestructible. Some pairs might appear to be stiff at first, but after being worn they start giving in and showing their soft heart.

Peccary leather
The impeccable South American peccary is the most sought-after glove-skin. Protected by the Washington Convention, only few skins leave the country each year for sustainability reasons. Guidelines by the CITES authorities in Geneva ensure the continued and healthy existence of this species in the future. Peccary has the most exquisite feel, but it is so strong that it will last a lifetime. Different from any other types of leather, it is also the most luxurious: soft, supple, and with a very characteristic structure.

Icelandic shearling
Icelandic shearling, also known as double face lamb, is mostly used as a lining for mittens – creating a glove that feels like the softest and most heart warming embrace in the world. Unlike slink, this type of lamb does not have curls, but is as fluffy as can be. It is usually used for mittens as it fills quite a lot of space, and because that’s where it’s needed the most, mittens being the warmest type of gloves.

What kind of lining is used in RHANDERS gloves?

At RHANDERS, we offer a carefully selected range of glove linings, including:

  • Unlined
  • Silk
  • Wool-blend
  • Slink lining
  • Double face lamb
What sewing techniques does RHANDERS use?

At RHANDERS, we use the same sewing techniques as our seamstresses have mastered for generations:

  • Full piqué
  • Half piqué
  • Prix seam
  • Inside seam

How should I best store my RHANDERS gloves?

Our products have a high degree of light-fastness, as with all natural material, the leather may fade when exposed to direct sunlight or artificial light. We therefore recommend storing your gloves flat, away from heat and light. For optimal care, use the RHANDERS glove box for storage.

How do I best take are of my RHANDERS gloves?

We recommend gently stretching your gloves after each use to maintain their shape. You can follow our guide on how to stretch your gloves.

Should I give my gloves any kind of treatment?

No, it is not necessary to treat your RHANDERS gloves. At RHANDERS, we use the finest quality full aniline leather, which does not require sprays, creams, or grease. In fact, applying products to the surface may damage the leather. We recommend using only a dry cotton cloth to gently polish it.

BELTS

How do I find the right belt size?

You can determine your belt size either by measuring your waist or your favourite belt.

If you choose to measure your waist, use a tape measure over your clothing. The measurement in centimeters corresponds to your belt size. If you are in between two sizes, we recommend rounding up to the nearest size.

If you prefer to measure your belt, lay it flat and measure from the base of the buckle (where it is attached to the strap) to the hole you use most often. RHANDERS belt sizes are defined by the length in centimeters from the beginning of the belt to the middle hole.

You can also follow our belt size guide here.

What type of leather are RHANDERS belts made from?

Cherish your belt for years with the right care. Your RHANDERS belt is made from the finest and most exquisite Italian leather. The leather is expertly vegetably tanned with only natural materials at a longstanding certified Italian tannery. Meaning the belt is naturally very strong and has the natural healing properties of genuine leather – and will develop a beautiful patina over the years.

How do I best take care of my leather belt?

To best care for your belt, avoid exposure to direct sunlight or strong artificial light, and take care to keep it dry. Do not distort its natural shape and refrain from applying products directly on the leather.

When not in use, we recommend storing your belt in our RHANDERS belt box.

If the leather becomes dirty, clean it carefully with a damp cloth. A high-quality leather balm may be applied, though not necessary with regular use due to the exceptional quality of the leather.

Can I get a personalised monogram on my belt?

Yes, it is possible to get a personal monogram engraved on your belt.

When you have found your favourite RHANDERS belt, you simply select 'Personalise with Monogram' on the product page. Here, you can add up to 2 initials.
